another month flies by...

knobs attached tightly, opening doors now easy, and stylish to boot

warm glow from above, helping to light work surface, adding mood light too

tub walls now have tile, eager to take a long soak, after grout goes on

stand in shower tiled, each tile gets black stain applied, before they're grouted

loads and loads of dirt, covering up septic tanks, backyard taking shape

fat caterpillar, not sure which you will become, butterfly or moth

again, i’ve let a month go by with no update…there have been a gazillion small things left to do inside that have kept me busy.  the cabinets now have knobs.  believe it or not, it is much easier to open doors that have knobs!  Jason got the over-cabinet lights installed.  they add much needed light to the countertop for food preparation.

they tiled the tubs and shower last week and are finishing up today with the grout.  i love the tiles we chose; they are 3x6 travertine blocks.  (Jason’s shower has 4x4 blocks on the floor.)  mine is a lighter colour called chiaro.  Jason’s are a bit darker naturally, but I have been staining them with a black stain the past three days to get them even darker.  it looks really cool. (the photo you see is before the stain.)

yesterday we did some small tasks outside.  we’ve got to get the septic lines and septic tank covered with dirt before the final inspection to get our occupancy permit.  Howard got started covering the septic tanks a couple of weeks ago.  i covered some of the smaller trench that runs through the woods yesterday.  as i was shoveling, i came across this funky caterpillar.  i’ve tried to identify him, but have had no luck.  apparently, there are many unknown caterpillars as it is hard to follow them to their adult stage.   i also encountered a very small northern red-bellied snake…he got away before i could snap a photo.  they feed on snails and slugs so he will be very welcome once i get a garden started.
