drywall is up

drywall transforms room, now more resembling kitchen, ready for primer

tub now looks tempting, eager for a long hot bath, much more work before

pipes poking through wall, water now flowing inside, waiting for faucet

the drywall was installed friday…in five hours…by three guys!  howard kept telling us how strong those guys were; each one could carry two sheets of drywall into the house.  they got the joint compound on the walls over the weekend and are finishing up with sanding it off today.  i guess it is a mess right now!

the attic insulation was blown in yesterday; that finishes up all the insulation work.  the stucco guys should be putting the final layer of stucco on the house and garage by the end of this week.  (perhaps running into next week.)  our electrical ditch passed the inspection so now we can fill it back in and get some electricity to the house.  mtemc is supposed to be setting up our pole this week.

this weekend i’ll be working with howard to get a temporary kitchen sink hooked up and to get one of the bathrooms functioning.  i’ve also got to get some ceiling lights hooked up; it’s so dark in there with all the drywall in place.  i’m hoping to start painting next week, and we are still planning on moving in at the end of the month.  it will be nice to be able to work on the house without driving an hour to get there!
