foundation finished

foundation in place, pedestal for pagoda, high above the ground

much work to be done, our cars must have their own spot, auto-pagoda

hidden in the bush, is that a house for a dog, just cardboard rubbish

the blocks for the foundation have been laid.  jason chose the ones that look like real stones...i really like them.  my dad and i went out one saturday to clean up the rocks and tree roots that were in the soon-to-be crawl space…it took us about five hours.  it seems we chose the rockiest spot on the whole 28 acres to build on!  now that the foundation is up, we can get ready to start framing.  this is the part i’m most looking forward to...it will start to look more like a house.  i love to see the inner structure and framework of a house.

however, we have to get the garage built before the framing on the house can start.  since we did not cut out any more trees than necessary, it is a very tight squeeze in the building site.  to get all the lumber and tools for framing and trusses in we have to get the foundation/garage blocks out of the way.  the plan: the garage will be finished monday, and the left-over block will be picked up tuesday or wednesday.  *fingers crossed*

each time we head out i look down the side of our property that runs along the highway as we drive off.  each time i see what i had decided was a doghouse.  the last time we were there i had about 20 minutes of “free-time” so i decided i would venture out to see once-and-for-all just what this thing really was.  what was it?  a piece of cardboard!  it was draped over a bush so it had taken on this curved shape as it got wet and dried back out.  my mind is a bit too creative at times…
